City of Lawton, OK Contracts Comport Networking & EI Technologies, LLC to Implement Enterprise GIS

The City of Lawton, OK, has awarded Comport Networking and EI Technologies, LLC a contract to implement an enterprise GIS for the City. The companies recently completed a GIS Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan for Lawton, a community of about 77,000 people in south-central Oklahoma adjacent to the Ft. Sill Army Post.

The City employs about 600 people in 12 departments and divisions. Comport and EI Technologies will implement an ArcGIS-ArcSDE solution using workstation, intranet, and Internet technologies. The project is scheduled to take 24 months and to be completed by June, 2010. The project will involve converting existing computer-aided drafting and drawing (CADD) files and existing GIS data into an enterprise geospatial database that will be maintained by a new GIS department housed within the Finance Director’s Office, according to Rick Endicott, Finance Director.

Plans also call for integrating the GIS with several third-party programs and databases used for decision-making purposes. Comport and EI Technologies have already provided systems integration services to Lawton. The two companies have assigned an integrated team of IT, GIS, and database consultants to accomplish the implementation.

Nirav Shah, president and CEO of EI Technologies, LLC said that the team is committed to implementing an enterprise GIS solution for Lawton on time and on schedule. He added, “EI Technologies’ executive team has been working with the management team of Comport for several months and both companies are looking forward to building on our relationships with the staff in Lawton. We are especially pleased with the value of the GIS Needs Assessment that we provided the City.”

Brian Childers, president of Comport, said, "The City of Lawton has been our client for years and they have looked for a GIS firm to help them with this integration project for quite a while.  They came to us for assistance and, after exhaustive research, we identified EI Technologies as the firm to fulfill their needs.  We couldn’t be more pleased about forming our relationship with EI Technologies as both companies share a common commitment to excellence and taking very good care of our clients.  By combining our capabilities, there are very few areas of technology and business process improvement that we cannot address."
