EI Technologies’ CAMPS Application is HTML 5 Compliant
Parker, CO — December 2, 2011
EI Technologies, LLC is pleased to announce that our CAMPS suite of applications is one of the first in the GIS industry to take advantage of HTML 5 features and capabilities. As part of this release, CAMPS takes advantage of a number of HTML 5 features including local storage for managing the bookmarks & custom map types, and new file input control for loading map session as well as loading CVS files.
CAMPS Web previously used browser cookies to manage the bookmarks and custom map types. Because a number of users / organizations do not allow cookies and because cookies have inherent size limit, the user experience was restricted to a specific number of bookmarks and custom types. With HTML5’s introduction of a local storage feature with as high as 5MB space for each site to save content locally, CAMPS Web now allows users to create as many cookies and custom map types as they want. This alleviates user security concerns as well as allows them for a faster and much richer user experience.
In traditional websites to load a local file, the user would have to upload the local file to the web server, the server would analyze the file content, and then return the content back to the client side to display. By using the new file input control introduced by HTML5, CAMPS Web can load the local map session and/or CVS files without causing any client-server round trip, which makes the performance of these two functions lightning fast.
To get the aforementioned improvements, the users will need to use web browsers that support these HTML5 features; otherwise, the site will still work but without these HTML5 benefits.
EI Technologies, LLC is committed to staying on the cutting edge of the GIS technology curve and as part of our commitment, invested resources to develop this latest CAMPS release that makes the most use of HTML 5 features. Nirav Shah, President and CEO of EI Technologies, LLC, said that the team is excited to reach this important milestone and will continue to strive for creating industry leading technology for GIS users around the world. He added, “Our clients appreciate the fact that we are one of the technology leaders in the industry and we continue this tradition with these latest developments.”
